Dimapur, Oct. 2: Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) has adopted road for its upkeep stretching from Plaza point (Holy Cross Higher Secondary School Junction) to Clock Tower with the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on October 2.

NWHD president Sungsabeni Jamio firmly said the hoho is concern and focusing to end plastic menace. This was reflected in action, when the participants were served refreshment free from using any plastic cups and plates. She also sought supports and cooperation from shop owners to make the adoption programme successful.

She added that inspection on the adopted area would be conducted on regular basis.

DMC administrator, Moa Sangtam, said the MoU would be effective from October 2 and continue for a year. The main focus of the work will be on “beautification and cleanliness” of the road, he said and requested shopkeepers and owners within the designated area to extend all possible support to the team.

The administrator thanked the hoho for joining the administration’s initiative of the ‘Better Dimapur,’ adding that the project is now one year and four months old. Further, he said that elderly women turning up for a better Dimapur is an encouragement to younger generation and example to all. He concluded with the assurance “we will not let you down.”

The signing of the MoU was followed with a mass social work at the demarcated adoption area.
