Shiv Sena

IMPHAL | Feb 6

Leaders of Shiv Sena, a party allied with the present NDA government, have assured to oppose the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB), 2016 to the delegates of North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) and All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU).

The assurance was made in their meeting with Shiv Sena leaders Uddhav Thackeray and his son, Aditya Thackeray at their residence at Matoshree, Mumbai today morning. General secretary of NESO, Sinam Prakash and AMSU president, Sarangthem Manjit represented the state in the team.

An executive of AMSU said that the delegation of NESO and AMSU has been meeting with various political parties both in the ruling and opposition while camping at the national capital, New Delhi since February 2 and urged them to oppose the bill. In their meeting, they briefed all the political parties about the negative impacts which will be faced by people of northeast once the bill is amended.

They also stated to Shiv Sena leaders that all the mainland people must understand the consequences that will be faced by the people of the NE just because of this bill. They also stated that the policy of India government to give citizenship to migrants of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan under the ideology of ‘One Nation and One religion’ really hurts the sentiments of people of the northeast region.

During the meeting, the Shiv Sena leaders responded that they understand the problem of indigenous people of the state and will strongly support them by opposing the bill when it is placed in Rajya Sabha, the executive added.

NESO also seriously noted the statement of Ram Madhav in which he announced that the bill will be presented in the parliament on February 12 as a supplementary bill and it may be supported by some of the political parties.

NESO along with AMSU will never give up its movement against the CAB, 2016, until the bill is withdrawn.
