IMPHAL | Apr 18

The BJP through act of machinations, has misled the ECI and the security forces, to ensure maximum re-poll in Naga dominated areas, charged election agent of NPF outer candidate, Gaidon Kamei, during a press meet held today at NPF office at Dewlahland, Imphal.

He contended that the BJP had used name of one Lucky Riha, identified as polling agent for BJP outer candidate, to write to the state DGP for registering an FIR against NSCN-IM for alleged intimidation and forcing people to vote for NPF in the recently concluded outer seat election on April 11.

Such is a sign of frustration on part of the BJP that they will be defeated in the election. Instead, BJP should learn to accept people’s mandate whether it is their defeat or victory, he added.

While pointing out that there is no surname as Riha in the Tangkhul community, and no such name as Lucky Riha, Gaidon stated that the complaint has caused misconceptions about one Luckyson Kashung of Riha village, who is a commoner and has nothing to do with the BJP.

Moreover, subsequent to the complaint, the police are now creating fear psychosis in the minds of villagers of Leihouram and Riha. The police who had come to questioned regarding the alleged NSCN-IM threat, also had harassed the voters on the polling day (April 11), said Gaidon, condemning the police action.

The NPF outer candidate agent further said, either the state authority or ECI should stop the BJP from indulging in such unethical practices. He said, the party will never allow such act of misusing someone’s name for electoral gain.

Also taking part in the press meet, Luckyson Kashung clarified that he has nothing to do with BJP or the FIR that has been lodged, which has caused misconceptions about him.

He informed that he has also written to the DGP that the said FIR application has no relation with him. The DGP has also been requested to trace the responsible person(s) for taking action, as per the law and punishable offences for impersonation, he added.
