UKHRUL| Jun 22: Music lovers of Ukhrul celebrated “World Music Day” under the aegis of Ukhrul Music Organisation (UMO) at Town Hall, Ukhrul; and hundreds of music lovers thronged the venue in order to witness the performance of the Tangkhul musicians and artists.
At the celebration today, various artists from Ukhrul came together and perform at the venue much to the delight of the Ukhrul populace. The variety of instruments and the forms of voice singing by various artists from Ukhrul proved to quite fascinating for the attendees.
As a part of the celebration, students from Echoes School of Music, Grace School of Music, Friends School of Music, Calvary United School of Music and Ukhrul School of Music presented various piano and guitar pieces. Khanngayai Raleng and Thotmaya Huishunao presented beautiful solo guitar pieces while bands from Ukhrul like Featherheads, Sochipem and the Band, Naga Horn, Friday, I. M. P. A. C. T., Overture On, and Dream Street enthralled the crowd by performing their original compositions along with cover versions of popular songs.
Tangkhul female singers, Yursari Ngalung and Yaimichon Kasomwoshi also mesmerised the audience with their angelic voices, while famed Tangkhul rapper duo SHAIHING stormed the stage and floor with their catchy songs. But it was the sensational young pop artist, Yung Yungwho stole the celebration with the crowd resonating along with his original numbers “First Kiss”.
Hao Riders, a group of riders from Ukhrul, also distributed souvenir badges and arm bands during the event.
The World Music Day celebration was attended by MLA-44 Ukhrul, Alfred Kanngam Arthur; social worker, Somatai Shaiza and commandant of 27 Assam Rifles, colonel Rippon Bora. Alfred Kanngam Arthur and Somatai Shaiza also presented financial assistance for the young and upcoming artists as a gesture of support.
