A combined team of Ukhrul Police and Chassad Police today arrested one person in connection with recovering of a huge cache of explosive materials and device at Ukhrul on 14 February 2019 from one person identified as Yaoreipam Laskar.
According to Ukhrul Police, the arrested person has been identified as Tamso Shimray, 25, son of Maungthei Shimray of Chatric Khunnou. He was arrested today at Awontang, Kamjong by the combined police team at 11:50am.
As per information made available by the Ukhrul Police, Tamso Shimray was the one who handed the materials and device for making explosive to Yaoreipam Laskar.
Yaoreipam Laskar, 21, son of Sabuddin Laskar (from Silchar) was produced before the court on February 15 and the court has remanded him to police custody for 10 days, informed sub-inspector Marching W.
In 1997, Sabuddin Laskar married Shanchuila who hails from Chahong Village. It is learnt that Sabuddin Laskar is a cement ‘mistry’ (construction worker) from Silchar.
It is worth mentioning that on February 14, 2019, a joint operation by Assam Rifles, Somsai and Ukhrul Police led to the arrest of one person at 2:30pm from Viewland, near UBI. Two kilos of explosive powder along with gellatine, battery, remote and fuse were recovered from the possession of the person.
