ITANAGAR | April 22, 2019:
On Saturday evening, violent storms accompanied by hailstones reportedly wreaked havoc in the foothill areas of Tarasso in Papum Pare, Dissing-Passo and Seijosa in Pakke-Kessang district.
Sources informed that the strong hailstorms had damaged the CGI sheet roofs of several houses including agriculture and horticulture fields.
Residents of Dissing-Passo also reported of seeing few injured birds due to hailstorm. They added that few residents of Tarasso have been rendered homeless after their houses were damaged.
The circle officer of Dissing-Passo, Bogam Padu had confirmed swathes of crops and scores of CGI sheet roofs being damaged in the area. He said six villages were affected in Dissing-Passo.
Officials of Balijan administrative circle in Papum Pare district including ADC Tasso Gambo, officials from the Tarasso circle office, the disaster management, agriculture, horticulture and other departments had visited Tarasso circle to assess the damages.
Members of the All Papum Poma Students’ Union (APPSU) were also part of the assessment team.
